Copper (I) bromide or Cuprous bromide is the chemical compound with the formula CuBr. The compound is widely used in the synthesis of organic compounds and as a lasing medium in copper bromide lasers. It finds many applications in organic synthesis, as a catalyst and a reagent. It is used as a catalyst in Sandmeyer reaction for preparing aryl bromides from arylamines through diazonium salts. It forms complexes with Lewis bases.
